Ali Rıza Binboğa

All Turkey met Ali Rıza Binboğa with his unforgettable song “Yarınlar Bizim” (Tomorrow is Ours). The last days of 1974…The first attendance of Turkey to Eurovision. The elections led by TRT was being broadcasted that night (TRT being the only TV channel for long years in Turkey). Everybody wondering for the nominee who was going to represent Turkey in the 1975 Eurovision to be organized in Sweden. Finally Ali Rıza Binboğa was the one who was successfully selected among many important singers such as Esin Afşar, Füsun Önal, Yeliz, Cici Kızlar, etc. And the following day everybody knew about this humble young man and his song full of peace messages which the country badly needed to hear those days. Born in 1950 in Kayseri he first met with music in 1964 on the occasion of a Music Seminar to be organized in Ankara that year and he was one of the sixteen students selected to attend the seminar. The seminar turned out to be a kind of conservatory for these students; they attended the lectures of important music virtuosos such as Nurhan Büyükgönenç and learned how to play the piano, violin and flute. Although in 1968 Binboğa entered İstanbul Technical University (ITU) to study Electronics, his ties with music were never cut. And while continuing his education, he also enrolled in State Opera and Ballet and resolutely ran his music career, one day to become a notable baritone which would be registered in the memory of the whole country.
