Vassiliki Papageorgiou The family of the accomplished singer, poet and lyricist is of İzmir, Midilli origin. His knowledge of the Greek music and his singing style which bears the traces of Aegean music brought out a new band Anadolu Feneri or Phanaritis Anatolis consisting of young musicians from the previous Bosphorus staff. Papageorgiou encouraged the band to shift its ground from classical Ottoman repertory to a rich blend of Turkish and Greek folk songs. As a result, a new music style has been constituted on the ground of this two branches of folk music.  Papageorgiou who is a virtuoso of three instruments of sufi music, the end-blown flute, classical kemancha and cello, has been contributing to the cosmopolitan Aegean music with his studio records, concerts and various projects since 1994.
