Coşkun Demir Receiving the prestigious “Best Singer” prize from the last Altın Microfon (Golden Microphone) Contest organized by the newspaper Günaydın In 1979 Coşkun Demir began a successful music career and was widely acclaimed with his subsequent works becoming a “classic” of Turkish pop music. Born in Tekirdağ Coşkun Demir after completing his high school education in different cities went to Istanbul to study Electrical Engineering in Istanbul Technical University (ITU). During his universtiy years he founded a music band called Arı Dörtlüsü (Arı Quartet). Although compulsory military service and professional life draw him a little away from music, never fully severed his connection with it. After the Altın Mikrofon Contest his first record is released by Yavuz Plak, gained recognition especially with the song “Sevgiye Tutsak” of Selmi Andak.
