Zeynep Karababa
Born in Sivas, Divriği Karababa met the minstrel tradition and Alevi music in her early childhood. Her father was also a minstrel and a local baglama virtuoso, Mehmet Ali Karababa and it can be said that her music education began in his “school.” In time she got interested in renowned minstrels such as Aşık Ali Metin, Ozan Rehberi, Aşık Mahzuni Şerif, Muhlis Akarsu, Mahmut Erdağ and Ali Kızıltuğ. She was deeply influenced by the music of Ruhi Su and her meeting with his music was a turning point in her life. She completed her academic music education in the Chorus department of Hacettepe University. Then she continued her education taking voice lessons from Besra Alaca. Her solo album “Yaz Bahar” (Summer Spring) was released in 2000 with the label of Ada Music.
